Q. ERROR: "ADO could not find the
specified provider", or "Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly
installed":
A. This indicates that an incorrect or
outdated version of the Microsoft® Jet 4.0 database is installed
on your computer. An update to the latest released Microsoft®
Jet 4.0 service pack is required for Windows® 98, 98 Second Edition, NT
4.0, and Windows 2000 users. This can be downloaded and installed
from Microsoft's web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=829558
Select the correct file based on the Windows operating system you are
using. Once you download the file, make sure Value Investor is
closed. Then double-click on the downloaded file to update the Microsoft®
Jet 4.0 files. The computer may ask you to restart the computer
after updating the Jet database files.
Q. What is the latest
version of Value Investor?
A. The latest version of Value
Investor is 1.3.9. Our next release of Value Investor will be 2.0, of
which we are currently working. Check back often to read status updates in our
news section.
Q. How do I report an
issue I am having with Value Investor?
A. If you have any issues with installing or using our
software, please let us know. At Spireframe Software, we take pride in creating
quality software and supporting our users to the best of our abilities. You can
email us at support@Spireframe.com
, or simply contact us using our easy-to-use online
contact form .
Q. What operating systems and hardware are
required to run Value Investor?
A. You can view a complete listing of our minimum and
recommended requirements for using our software at our
Requirements page We admit the requirements seem long, but generally
the hardware in any computer purchased in the last four years should easily be
able to run our software. At this time, our software is only available for
Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Q. How do I unlock the trial version of
Value Investor?
A. If you download and try Value Investor, you have 14
days to use it until this trial version "expires". At this time you need to
purchase a registration key from our online
order site to continue using the software. Please note that if your
trial version expires and you download and install the software again, the
original trial period will still apply. Once you purchase the registration key,
you can enter this key into Value Investor and the software will be "unlocked".
We ask that you please save this key as it is yours alone to unlock your trial
version. We recommend that you write it down or print it out, and place this
wherever you store important documents.
Q. Do I need to download a "full"
version of Value Investor once I purchase it?
A. Although you download the trial version, once you
purchase and enter the registration key into the software, it then becomes the
"full" version, meaning the software is transformed from a trial version to a
fully-licensed version for you to use as long as you like.
Q. I see you have an update I can download
to update Value Investor. How does this work?
A. You may have downloaded our software in the past, but
we usually post regular updates on our
Download page. If you already have Value Investor installed, simply go
to the updates page and download and install the update. You software will
automatically be updated to the latest version.
Q. Where do you recommend I get financial
statement data that I enter into Value Investor?
A. We feel the definitive source for financial statement
data is the EDGAR website, operated by the United States SEC (Securities and
Exchange Commission) located at
http://www.sec.gov/edgar.shtml. Here, all public companies that trade
stock on the US stock markets are required to file quarterly financial results.
